Mirch ke Tipore

Mirchi ke Tipore, basically less spicy green pepper's side dish. This is one of the most favorite side dish even my 6 year old loves a lot. So you can guess the hotness of the peppers.
This dish I came across when I was scrolling through some random videos. Name itself is so catchy so I started my search. After watching tons of recipe video and talking to my mom I figured out the authentic recipe and it was a real hit. It can be a delicious option to any boring day when you don't feel like cooking lengthy 4 course meal. Few easily available spices like funnel seeds, cumin seeds, dry mango powder, salt, red chilli (paprika) powder, lemon juice, and oil. Just roast all seeds and coarsely grind it. Heat oil add all powder with turmeric, red pepper, asafetida, dry mango powder and add freshly cut chillis. Mix it and cook it just for a minute. Turn the flame off and add lemon juice. Tadaaa! Ready to enjoy this tangy spicy and mood refreshing side dish to be enjoy with piping hot fulkas.
I've been to Rajasthan on the trip from my collage. I love to eat, so almost at every spot as much as possible I tried lots of dishes. And I noticed everything was so spicy over there. I wondered how come one of the  hottest state of India here people handle this level of hotness or spices? Later when I studied food history and nutrition I understood the simple logic behind our smartest culture. Due to scorching sun the blood in human body gets thick and increase the risk of various diseases. Pepper or chilli or spices acts like blood thining agent. So you see its for good.. and trust me people there enjoy piping hot kachoris, samosas, Mirchi badas and lots of mouth watering dishes in scorching sun extreme weather.
I haven't seen this recipe in restaurants. May be you can get this in Rangilo Rajasthan but outside this state it's hard to find. But hay hay hay my foodie friend... What I always say you can make this at home!!! Just collect the spices or visit any Indian store to get those beautiful green peppers and make yourself a new authentic dish from "Mharo Royal Rangilo Rajasthan!"

Varan Fal

papad               This lockdown blessed me a long stay at my hometown. Beautiful childhood memories, simple homemade food and long chat with neighbours who are family now! My neighbour Aunt cooks amazing food. When I was child I used to play knowingly in front of her house every evening hoping she would call me inside and feed me that aromatic, mouthwatering dish whatever she has made for dinner. And this trick worked always.. 😉                Varan fal is one of the comfort dish I always adore. This is something special because every house has it's own version of Varan fal. Today my Aunt made varan fal for me, so how can I forgot this dish to share with you!              Basic preparations are same in each recipe, just spices or the way of making is varies. My Aunt makes it with mix lentils like toor dal (pigeon pea), chana dal ( Split chickpea), moong dal ( yell...

Crispy Millet bhakri with brinjal curry.

Summer is round the corner and this menu poped up in my mind. This is one of the special menu for me. Dharwadi bhakri, kala masla vangi bhaji, kairichi chatni. My neighbour auntie introduced this lip smacking crunchy flatbread to me. This flatbread is called Dharwadi bhakri, means crunchi millet flatbread which belongs to Bidar. Maharashtra and Karnataka border is called Bidar.                    Millet flatbreads are popular accross India. But this dharwadi bhakri is little different as it can be stored for months. Usually me & my daughter like this with special peanut chutney made in mortar and pestle with perticular type of peanuts called Solapuri peanut.                   Vangyachi bhaji is brinjal curry made with special spices paste which is dark in colour that's why it is called kala masala. Kala means black. Dry cocon...
