Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi !!! A full glass of contentment 😌is what I call this!
Mango lassi is more famous out of India. People here in India prefer basic sweet lassi or savory lassi.
This a seasonal non alcoholic drink loved by all age group.

This thick consistency smoothie like drink is made with fresh curds (yoghurt), cream, cardamom powder sugar, and fresh mango puree. That's it, they put all elements in a big bowl type vessel and churn it by hand using a wooden churner. Until everything comes together and becomes smooth. Then a loude fancy pour in glass and add Cream on top of it. The person who is making lassi loves to show how they are pouring lassi in a glass with a turn on place and pouring from height. Glass to vessel and vessel to glass, a small juggling to impress the camaras😉.

Lassi came from the accomplished state of India "Punjab". Everywhere in Punjab you will see at least one vendor is selling lassi. Now days there are many flavors available in lassi like, rose, strawberry, keshar-pista, lychee and many more. Even chocolate and coffee flavored lassi I have seen. But I like my lassi plain and sweet. My kids prefer mango lassi.

I'm exited to share more abut it. Some like to add chopped dry fruits like almonds, raisins, pistachios, and cashews. Some vendors make lassi so thick that they will give you a spoon to literally eat it or scoop out all dry fruits from bottom. A glass of lassi can become a breakfast or snack for a person. Patiyala peg you must have heard but if you have a large appetite then you can have "Patiyala" glass of lassi. Patiyala Glass is extra extra large glass. So the term Patiyala refers to extra extra large. Patiyala is city in Punjab which is popular for larger, bigger things just like Texas editions. But you will find Patiyala glass in only India.

You can make lassi at home too. Now days store bought puree is available so take advantage of that. Just a cup of yoghurt, a cup of puree, sugar to taste, cardamom powder or even peeled cardamom will also work. throw all in a blender jar blend it well and enjoy! See how easy it is. Even though this is not a recipe blog but I really want you to try this creamy smooth a glass of love from India. I used to prefer Swad kesar mango pulp. This pulp is sweetened so add sugar carefully. and this pulp is available at any Indian store or Mediterranean store too or just order it online.

You will find mango lassi in all season in any Indian restaurant. So you know what to order for drink next time you visit. Be experimental and do try if you get a chance to taste more flavors and yes at least once give a plain sweet lassi chance to satisfy your buds. Or else make it at home and just sit back and enjoy this creamy and smooth glass of love.
