Navratri is the festival of small girls. On the eighth day or nineth day of navratri ladies dose puja (worship) of goddess Durga. Eight handed Durga maa battled without eating and sleeping against hundreds of demons as well as buffello headed demon called Mahishasur for nine nights and ten days without any break. So to celebrate this days and to thank to maa Durga we call minimum eight little girls and worship them. we treat them as Maa Durga and offer prashad (food offerings to god is called prashad) to those little girls who are form of maa Durga in navratri.
